P&C Bathtub Refinishing Process

At P&C Bathtub Refinishing, we specialize in restoring worn bathtubs, showers, tiles, and countertops with professional reglazing techniques. Our refinishing process allows you to refresh, restore, and renew your bathroom without the high cost of replacement.

Bathtub refinishing is a multi-step process that requires proper preparation, professional coatings, and controlled ventilation to ensure a durable, long-lasting finish.

Bathroom Preparation

Before our technicians arrive, a few simple steps help ensure a smooth and efficient refinishing process. We ask that you clear the bathroom area by removing all personal items from the bathtub, shower walls, and surrounding spaces. This includes soap, shampoo, bottles, razors, shower curtains, hooks, bath mats, and any shelves or accessories near the tub. Items should also be cleared from vanity tops, toilet tanks, and nearby shelves so our technicians have a clean workspace. If your bathtub has shower doors, please remove them in advance or confirm with us beforehand if our team will handle the removal. Clear access to the bathroom and tub area is important so our technicians can work safely and efficiently. For safety reasons, pets and children should be kept away from the workspace, and parking close to the home is appreciated for easier equipment access.

Ventilation Setup

Bathtub reglazing uses professional coatings that require proper ventilation during the application process. To ensure safe airflow, we require access to a working bathroom window or the nearest available window in the home. Our technicians also need access to an electrical outlet to connect our professional exhaust ventilation system. This equipment safely removes fumes from the work area while the refinishing coatings are applied. Please make sure windows are unlocked so our team can quickly set up the ventilation system when they arrive.

Temperature & Environment Control

Maintaining the correct indoor temperature is important for proper adhesion and curing of the new finish. During colder months, the indoor temperature should be set to a minimum of 68°F. In warmer months, maintaining a temperature between 68°F and 70°F is recommended. Proper temperature control allows the coatings to bond correctly to the surface and cure evenly, resulting in a durable and long-lasting finish.

Surface Inspection & Preparation

Before the refinishing process begins, our technicians will inspect the bathtub and surrounding surfaces. If you are aware of any loose fixtures, cracks or chips in the tub, drain or overflow issues, or drainage problems, please notify us ahead of time. Addressing these conditions allows us to properly prepare the surface and achieve the best possible refinishing results.

Professional Reglazing Application

Once preparation is complete, we begin the professional refinishing process. The surface is thoroughly cleaned and prepared to ensure proper adhesion of the new coating. Minor chips or imperfections may be repaired, and professional bonding agents are applied before the refinishing coating is sprayed onto the surface. This process creates a smooth, glossy, like-new finish that restores the appearance of your bathtub without the need for replacement.

After the Refinishing Service

After the refinishing service is completed, the newly coated surface needs time to cure properly. The bathtub and walls should remain unused for at least 24 hours. To protect the finish, avoid placing items on the surface for approximately 48 hours. Following the recommended maintenance and cleaning instructions will help preserve the finish and keep your refinished bathtub looking great for many years.

Important Notes About the Process

Bathtub refinishing involves professional coatings and specialized equipment. During the process, temporary odors may be present while the coatings are being applied. Our professional ventilation system is designed to safely remove fumes from the work area, and any odors will typically dissipate once the service is completed and the area has been ventilated. P&C Bathtub Refinishing is fully licensed and insured, providing reliable service and high-quality workmanship for every project.

Restore Your Bathtub Without Replacement

Our reglazing services can restore a wide range of bathroom surfaces, including bathtubs, showers, ceramic tile, countertops, vanities, and backsplashes. Reglazing is a cost-effective way to refresh and upgrade your bathroom while avoiding the time, mess, and expense of a full remodel.
